April 9, 2022 - Beginning to remove the trees and bushes.
May 4, 2022 - We hired a tractor to get the bulk of the field level.
May 10, 2022 - The tractor put some of the topsoil back on the field, so we have good soil for growing grass, hopefully. The kids enjoyed playing in the dirt.
May 16, 2022 - The same day after we leveled the topsoil, we began playing soccer.
May 18, 2022 - We started digging the footers for the block wall.
May 20, 2022 - After 3 days, all footers are completely dug.
May 29, 2022 - After a week of work, 3 footers poured, and about 350 blocks laid.
June 4, 2022 – 650 more blocks laid, after another week of work.
June 12, 2022 – Another 500 blocks laid, and some dirt leveled.
June 18, 2022 – Finished the block work for now. Moving dirt so it is sloped, and the rainwater runs off on the far side through some holes in the wall we made. We left the wall unfinished so we can get a few more loads of topsoil in.
June 25, 2022 - The soccer field has become a place to practice for a motorcycle license.
July 16, 2022 - The soccer field has been getting a lot of use! Every day, the girls get the field from 2-4:30 (and young boys who aren't as good along with 4 moms who have been coming to play). Then the older boys and dads get the field from 4:30 till dark (around 7). Even though the girls get the field for 2 1/2 hours every day, they asked me if I could build another field for them...
Sept 3, 2022 - Starting to install the chain link fence to keep the ball in and not popping when it hits all the barb wire from our neighbor’s fences.
Sept 23, 2022 - Two of the three sides of the soccer field have a fence now.
